Tell your story: Simple framework to create an impactful brand story video for your business.

This week we've teamed up with one of our members - the incredibly talented Delphine from Kookaburra Films, an Adelaide based videographer. In this blog post, Delphine is sharing the simple framework she follows to create impactful brand story videos for her clients, and how you can apply it yourself!

So, let’s jump right in…

A well-crafted brand story video is a timeless marketing tool for your business.

The key to telling your story is to know how to structure it to grab the attention of the right clients. I have helped many women in business share their brand story and this is one of the frameworks that I use. Of course it's not a one size fits all but it's a great starting point.

Don't hesitate to tweak it to make it work for you!

1.Know how to quickly introduce yourself and your business

This is a simple but effective way to let your audience know what the video is going to be about. Think of it as something that you could say to introduce yourself at a networking event or the catchphrase that you use on your website. It shouldn't be more than one or two sentences.

2.Give us a glimpse of your background story

Then you want to tell us a bit about you. Highlight your relevant past experiences, your skills and position yourself as the expert that you are! For example, if you run a marketing agency and prior to that you worked in the industry for 10 years, managed campaigns for multi-million dollar brands, etc. we need to know about this! But you might also have a complete career change and gone into something that has nothing to do with your previous work. If that's the case tell us that story, because it will really show your passion for what you do!

3.Share your observation of the industry

A lot of us (especially service-based business owners) go into business because we've seen how things are done in our industry and we thought we could do it a bit differently, add our own little touch to it! Maybe we noticed that something was missing or needed to be improved, this is an important part of your why, share it.

4.Tell us about your unique approach

What sets you apart? You don't need to have revolutionised your industry to have a point of difference! Everyone has a unique way of doing things. It might simply be because your skillset is slightly different from your competitors. Same service, different approaches.

5.Results, results, results!

Share the amazing things your clients have achieved. You want to paint a picture in everyone's mind of the transformation that happens when they sign up to work with you!

6.End things on a powerful note

In my opinion you don't want to end a brand story video on a call to action per se, like “reach out now”. I think it's more about finding a powerful end statement that beautifully sums up what you do. At the end of the video, you want the people watching to feel inspired and leave with the feeling that they know you before they even met you!

Keep in mind the main goal of a brand story video: to connect with your clients. You want to let them know your big why; why you are doing what you do and let them hear how much it lights you up!  If you’d like to hear more from Delphine, sure to find and follow her on social media at @kookaburrafilms or head to her website www.kookaburrafilms.com
